Amtrak's Cascade Train - the simplest way of getting there.


For Oregonians, a great option is to leave the car and the interstate behind and take the Amtrak Cascades train from Eugene, Salem, or Portland. The train cars offer large comfortable seats, free Wi-Fi,  and beautiful views that aren't available form the freeway. 




 If you're fortunate enough to ride after snowy weather, the views improve from beautiful to magical.

I love Seattle in the winter.... There's no better time to  see Seattle than in the winter just after the holiday craziness. It   makes it easy to feel like a local rather than  one of the masses of tourists, while giving you a chance to take advantage of post holiday clearance sales. With the crowds down, you can take your time to enjoy the Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibit or Museum of Pop Culture without holding up the  crowd behind you  In winter, there's elbow room at Pike Place Market, and  winter citrus at the fruit stands.   D on't bother with an umbrella, unless you like unintentional slapstick comedy. A waterproof  jacket with a hood is your best choice
